Huirt ensnared between 20 and 30 women, five of whom ho admits killing, is at last explained by tho revelations of Mrs. Alma Estcllo Snyder, marked down by "Bluebeard" as his next victim, vic-tim, the authorities are convinced. Mrs. Snyder, a nurse, escaped the fato of tho other brides by a few hours. When Huirt was arrestod sii California on a charge of disposing of stolen Liberty bonds, Mrs. Snyder was making ready to Join him. As It dawned upon her that tho man sho loved and trusted was the most fiendish slayer in history of American Ameri-can crime, Mrs. Snydor collapsed and for a time it was feared that ' she would lose her hilnd. - . Huirt employed, according to his confession and to tho revelations of Mrs. Snyder, an Invariable "system" in luring women to hideous death In lonely places. He courted in dashing style, mostly by mall, and talked of large sums of money, rich gifts and a luxurious home awaiting tho womnn about to marry him. The wedding trip always led the pair into some retreat re-treat where Huirt could give play to his Impulse to kill, barehanded or wiin some primitive weapon. C. on March 25, following follow-ing tho marriage. Tho fact that such a. typewritten letter was received by friends of Betty Bet-ty Prior after she was dead has caused caus-ed officials to believe that the Bluebeard Blue-beard also has murdered Mrs. Andrc-wartha. Andrc-wartha. Typewritten Tyctlcr. He married Miss Bertha Goodnich of Spokane on June 11, 1913, in North Yakima. He. used the name of H. L. Gordon. This wedding occurred but two days after the murder of Betty Prior a short distance from there. He married Mrs. Nina Lce Deloney of Eureka, Mont., In San Francisco, Dec. 5, 1919, under the name of C. N, Harvey. Her relatives also received the typewritten letter Hulrt confesses that he killed Nina Deloney with a hammer at Long Beach, Cal.. and carried car-ried her body into the desert In his automobile. She had properly valued at $20,000. Miss Belly Prior, who has been identified as the woman found murdered mur-dered near Plum station last July, married Huirt in Coeur d'Alene. Idaho, Ida-ho, on March 25, 1919. He used the name Milton Lewis in this marriage. He obtained a will from her four days after their marriage' In which she gave him $1S00 In Liberty bond3 and cash, her lifo's savings. oo |
