Show HAMPTON TRIAL SET FORM 13 Bookkeeper Pleads Not Guilty to Forgery and Embezzlement Embezzle-ment Charges Trial of Walter M. Hampton, charged with having filled In two company checks of tho Golden Rule store on May 12. will open in the district dis-trict court before Judgo A. E. Pratt, July 13. Hampton, when brought Into court yesterday afternoon, entered a plea of not guilty after a complaint charging him with forgery and embezzlement em-bezzlement had been read. Hampton, through his counsel, asked that as much time as possible ba given before tho trial in order that his defense may be prepared. It was stated by his counsel that an endeavor will be made to secure copic3 of certain cer-tain letters", which are now held by various banks In Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado. No intimation of tho particular par-ticular line of defense to bo used by the former bookkeeper, was given. Hampton appeared surprised when tho complaint was read charging him with forgery and embezzlement. He had intimated before a g'roup of offl-l offl-l ccrs and newspaper men just before the hearing that he believed the chjirgc against him would be reduced to a misdemeanor.
