Show 'MURDEROUS HIRELINGS' OF MINES DENOUNCED H "WASHINGTON, May 20. JohnL. Lewis, president of the United Mine Workers here in connection with coal jH miners' negotiations, sent a telegram j to Governor Coruwell, of West Vir- ginia, today commenting on the 3lis-j 3lis-j turbancs last night at Matewan and urging that measures to prevent "k.w-less "k.w-less activities" by "murderous litre- lings of the coal operators" be taken. In a statement Lewis said? "We have repeatedly called the,ab-i the,ab-i tention of Governor Cornwell to -tho jH ' terrible conditions existing in tho Guyan river, Tug river, Little Coal riv-, riv-, er "and x'ocahontas coal fields of West j-Virginia.
