Show I Current in the Ogden Up to t Five Feet; Maximum Height t Reached Is Belief 1 3 Waters of the Ogden river broko all 1 t records of the year this morning when B the five-foot mark was reached. In j spite of the sudden great rush, all points are holding well and no danger $ is anticipated from overflow, accord- g Ing to C. H. Martin, supervisor of city . streets, who made a tour along the 1 river banks and completed measure- jl ments early today. It is believed by a those making observations that the i river waters have now reached the S maximum height of the season and a 1 fall is expect'il tomorrow. ' A largo tree, uprooted by the rush- ij ing water in Ogden canyon was swept $ downstream yesterday and lodged ''k against the Oregon Short Line railroad bp bridge. A crew of men were stationed & at the bridge for emergency purposes and soon disposed of the obstruction, j which, it was feared would have ? caused trouble if not dislodged. A der- m rick has been installed near the bridge E and the crew members are taking $ every precaution against accumulation k of debris against the bridge abutments. fz Mr. Martin declared that the weak- ffi est points of the river banks will still allow for an even greater rise and an c enormous amount of water can still bo overflow. Patrols are being kept busy along the river bank? clearing away accumulations accu-mulations and keeping all points open, Mr. Martin said. |
