Show IfrThe Pixies" Presented to Crowded House; Again K Tonight at Orpheum Surpassing all other annual plays given by the school children of Og-j Og-j den, the fairy operetta, "The Pixies," i was given at the Orpheum theatre I for the first time .last evening. I The theatre was crowded to the fullest extent and tho operetta was well received. Scores of fairies in pretty dresses delighted tho eyes of 1 the audience. Dainty butterflies, j dolls and flowers presented scene aft er scene of pretty color and brilliancy. j The queen of tho fairies, Uarda Nut- tall, wa3 tho perfect realization of every little girl's and boy's dreams. 1 Many of the little folks taking part In the operetta wore applauded , heartily, especially tho work of the I following, Kenneth Older as the Swede and Jack Irving as the Chinaman China-man The cast of characters included Uarda Nuttall as queen, Stacie Burke as Angelica, Elizabeth Mdntyrc as Sunshine and Evelync Corey as L.ib-I L.ib-I erty. There were also Amazon guards, Archer cadets and furies, , plain pixies, goblins, coons and j fairies. One of the most prominent ' features of tho play was the dancing numbers, which were artistically given giv-en by the students of tho physical education departments of the various schools. Miss Zelda Laffoa. and Tal-madgo Tal-madgo Boyd were applauded when they gavo an Irish dance, "Dublin 1 Jig.", One of tho other dances that also was well given was the dutch danco by Miss Annette Cunningham and Zola Shaw. There were also other dancing specialties, given by tho Mother Gooso children. During the interval between the two acts, TInymlte and Tiddlewinks gavo a doll party, which was a source of much enjoyment for all the children, little ones and big ones. Many who have witnessed a num- bor of the plays and operettas given by the children of the public schools in previous year3 declare that the present production has surpassed all heretofore presented. "Work in both tho music department under the supervision of Miss Valentine Preston and in the physical education department depart-ment under the supervising of Mrs. Sophie W. Reed was well and exceptionally excep-tionally done. From the minute that the curtain arose until the final fall, ill were pleasantly entertained and he operetta progressed easily with-jut with-jut hitch or pause. The future work if the departments promises even a Digger success than the ono won last wenlng in "The Pixies." A matinee was given this afternoon, and this evening. "The Pixies" will bo pro-;ented pro-;ented once more. |
