Lyman Gowans, formerly for-merly of Ogdon and now a radio officer offi-cer In tho army, participated In tho first flight over attempted from Luke field, Pearl harbor, to ' Ilanamaiuiu bay in the Hawaiian Islands, according to word which reached hero tocay. This Information Is contained Jn a letter from tho wifo of Lloutenant Gowans to her father-in-law, Dr. E. G. Gowans, received from Honolulu yesterday. Mrs. Gowans was Miss Helen Taylor of Ogdon. In her lotter she says tho personnel of tho expedition expedi-tion consisted of Major John F. Curry, department aid service officer; Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Lester Maltland, Lieutenant John Lanfall and Lieutenant Ralph Wootton, pilots; her husband, L. L. Gowans, radio officer, and Corporal Black, radio officer.
