Show SMOKE TESTS I ILL BE HELD Experiments to Be Conducted 1 At City Hll for City Officials With a view of eliminating the winter win-ter smoko nulBance? in Ogdcn, throo prominent Salt L-ikers today met with Mayor Frank Francis and members of the city commission and completed arrangements whereby tests and demonstrations dem-onstrations will be held in Ugdeh Thursday, October 14. The men from Salt Lake who met with the board todaj were T. B, Hoff-man, Hoff-man, P. i Perkins and K M. Johnson, all prominent business men of Salt i and Interested In ridding Utah cities of the mol nuisance. The new system Is the use of crushed I oil shale, procured from the oil shale fields of Utah, with coal It has been shown that these two products, when used In proper proportions, make It I possible to cut soot and smoke to a' very low percentage and to effect a grent saving In fuel. The oil shale, It Is said, creates a quick combustion, which. Ignites the gaass thrown off by the coal and In this manner ellinm- ' ate.3 smoke, for the reason that the Has In the smoke carries the soot' particles.
