Show ' JUST FOLKS Bj Edgmr A. GoeaU 1 4 THOUGHT FOR M'Tl'MX. Autumn's comln' on again, summer s work Is nlmort done, fruits an' trees nn' fields o' grsin have their richest gafments on. New the humblest ne ?. ems proud In a bit o' splendor dressed. Sort o' nittisfled to go, knowln' It hss done its best. Human like It seems to me are the things that bloom tind grow, Snnic of Jus' the common run. soma are raised for pomp an" show Jus' a few got special fame, few draw prizes in the f.ill. But when autumn comes along, nature glorifies 'em all. Geld an' red an' purple hues deck the commonest o" things. An the simplest sprig that grows wears a robe too rich' fer kings, Nothln' stays neglected now man may scorn or fall to find Many a hidden plant or vine, but God has 'em all In mind. Mebbe when our work Is done and our autumn time draws near We. too. like the growing things, In rich garments shall appear. An' perhaps the humblest then, unto man's neglect resigned, Shall discover all the time God ass keeping him In mind. (Copyright. 1920. by Edgar A Guest.) 00 |
