Show CLAIMS OF ANTI-SUFFS. DENIED BY HUGHES NEW YORK, March Claims of anti-suffragists that the Anthony amendment to the constitution, if ratified, rati-fied, would bo ineffective in states whore state constitutions restrict suffrage suf-frage to "male" citizens until such constitutions had been amended, are, erroneous, according to an opinion ob-l tained from Charles E. Hughes, former Justico of the United States supreme court by the National American Woman Wom-an Suffrage association. Judge Hughes also advised the association that in his opinion claims that the amendment amend-ment in any case would confer only the right to vote for senators and representatives rep-resentatives was equally erronous. orv |
