Show NATHAN A. TANNER SUDDENLY DIES IN SPRINGFIELD, IDAHO, AT THE AGE OF 74 YEARS Nathan A. Tanner, 74 years of age,' I died suddenly early this morning at Sprinpfield, Idaho, according to information infor-mation contained in a message received re-ceived by N. A. Tanner, Jr. of Ogden early today The son will leave on an afternoon train for Idaho to make ar-rangexnents ar-rangexnents for the funeral. Springfield Spring-field is about 25 miles from Blackfoot, Idaho Nathan A. Tanner, Sr., was born in Iowa in October, 1845. He came to Utah In ISIS with his parents and the family located in Oden which continued con-tinued to be the residence of Mr Tanner Tan-ner up to about twenty years ago wh( n he moved to Sprincfield. where he aided aid-ed in the establishment of the community com-munity He was a lawyer by profession profes-sion and durmc the time he has been in Idaho he has managed a farm and practiced law. In Ogden, Mr. Tanner practiced law and was active in civic affairs for Iraany years. He was city attorney and w'as a member of the city council in 1889 under Mayor David Eccles. dur inc which time the present city hall was built. At the corner Stone-laying of the building, Mr. Tanner, as a member mem-ber of the council, took part in the exercises, February 8, 1889. Mr. Tanner was a descendant of John Tanner who joined the Mormon church in 1831. Tho Tanners have the greatest posterity of any family In the Mormon church, there being fully 5.000 on the membership rolls of the church. Bleven children were born to Mr Tanner's first wife and three o his second wife. Those surviving by tho first wife are Nathan Tanner, Ogden; Mrs. Emily G. Thomas, Swan Lake, Idaho, William J. Tanner, Lyman G. Tinner, and Mary Tanner, who is teaching school in Hawaii. The chil-dr. chil-dr. n ot the second marriage are Earl !'. and Frank Bvron Tanner and Mrs. LydlO Watson, all residing in Magrath, Canada. Tho arrangements for the funeral will be announced later |
