C Richards, former speaker of j the house of representatives, will arrive ar-rive in Salt Lake this afternoon lrom LOS Angeles where he will spend a month in Utah prior to returning to Washington Mr. Richaids was re ' cently appointed special assistant to j Attorney General Palmer at Washing ; ton. He has been on the Pacific coast I I since Nov. 6 investigating the oil sit- I uation. With his business in Utah complet ed, Mr. Richards will undertake one of the largest suits in the history of the country He has been directed bv At ' torney Palmer to prosecute the Standard Stan-dard Oil company and the I'nion Oil companies of California for criminal conspiracy. It Is alleged that the.- firms, through a conspiracy, raised the ; price on cru.le oil 200 per cent when ; the Pacific fleet passed in review at a number of coast cities.
