Legion Elects Commander. The first annual oonventlon of the American Legion tonight elected Franklin D'Olier, of Philadelphia, as its national commander and voted tu have congress consider thi advisability advisabil-ity of approving further bonuses for service men The K v F A Kelly of New York, was elected national chaplain D'Olier was the first candidate to be nominated He was named by the Arkansas delegation. California passed its nominating right to New York and Stuyvesant Pish placed the name of Ilantord .MacNIder of Mason City, la., before tho convention. The Virginia delegation nominated Leslie Jones of Washington, D C, and Kentucky named as its choice Emmett O'Neill, of Louisville. Jack Sullivun of Seattle, who was nominated by the North Da kota delegates, withdrew from the race, bo did Chairman Henry D Linds-ley, Linds-ley, of Dallas, nominated by the Texas delegation. Tho vote was: D'Olier. 366; MacNIder. MacNI-der. 2-18; Jones, IS. O'Neill, 10 Tin-title of past national commander was conferred upon Mr. Lindsley, who had been acting head of the( Legion since ihe St. Louis meeting. A broad variety of subjects, includ ing the Centralia tragedy, industrial unrest and the national non-partisan league, were touched upon. Delegates from northwest states drew up a reso lut ion assailing the activities of President Presi-dent A C Townley of the Non partisan league, but it was tabled by a vote of the convention.
