Morris, Mor-ris, n Mondas morning last, walked a man who, lnce October .r. 1007. has been wanted by th United States gov-emment gov-emment and who has enlisted and de-iei de-iei ted the nai j numbei - ol I Imt On October .". lf'"7. thi man, who on Monday attempted to enlist in Ogden Og-den under the name ol Clarence Ev-erette Ev-erette Baldwin, entered the navy Venice Ven-ice at New York City and on December Decem-ber 30 of the same year deserted. Since that time the man has re enlisted under many aliases hti baa each time failed tn report at the station sta-tion to which he has been assigned. Sergeant Morris received tho man's ipplicalion to go i" Mure Island nnd Immediately su pected him as the long sought for deserter. Transportation was given Baldwin to Salt Lake where he was ostensibly to be examined and sent lo Mare Island, but the r ;il purpose pur-pose was to have the man's thumbprints thumb-prints and other means of identification, identifica-tion, which the Salt Lake office possesses, pos-sesses, passed upon. The man was readily proven as the Edward Neisoni if many aliases and the deserter was -lri ed unde r arre st nnd is beins held pending orders from Washington A part of the circular letter sent out to all offices describing the man s here given- "The attached photographic copy of an identification record is being for-warded for-warded to your office for the purpose jf identifying a man. who is defrauding defraud-ing the government out. of transportation transporta-tion by making application for enlistment enlist-ment and securing a transfer to a training station and eloping en route, r deserting as is shown by the records rec-ords in this office which are as fol lows "Edward Nelson, enlisted at New York, N. Nebraska, and was transferred to Marine Ma-rine Barracks Navy Yard, Norfolk. Ya eloped en route; Harold Deane, applied June 3. 1918. at Toledo, 'hio. and was transferred to Parrls Island.
