Show WAR LOOMS IN BASEBALL WORLD AS MANY PROBLEMS FACE NATIONAL COMMISSION NEW YORK, Nov. 19. -At a meeting meet-ing of the board of directors of Ihe American league today a call was issued is-sued for the annual meeting of the members of the American league to be held in this r it I)i-c mbi r u The annual an-nual meeting of the board of directors also was called for that date. President Charles A. Comlskey of the Chicago club presided today H. H Frazee of Boston and Col Jacob Ruppert of the local club were the other members present President B. B. Johnson and J. C. Dunn of the Cleveland club did not attend Legal Action. After discussing ihe failure of the national commission to pay the players play-ers of the New York American league club their share of the world's scries receipts, the board authorized the employment em-ployment of counsel to secure the pay-men pay-men i of tlc money to the players. Colonel Rupnerl reported the prog-resa prog-resa of the committee appointed to nominate a new chairman of the national na-tional commission and President Johnson's John-son's refusal to meet his own appointee ap-pointee In conjunction with th .a tlonal league members of the commit tee Colonel Ruppert was requested to submit his report in writing so thai appropriate action could be taken on the matter at the board's next meeting meet-ing December 2. Adept Resolution. A resolution was adopted which embodied em-bodied a demand that the national commission turn over to the treasurer of tin American league the sum of 125,000, a part of the 10 por cent of! the reci ipts from the world's series. The board addressed ihe following teller to President Johnson- "Under date of October 15. 1919. you addressed a letter to O. A. Comlskey, president of the baseball club. Chicago, Chi-cago, 111., in response to a communication communi-cation addressed to you under date of September 17. 1919, and advised him at the same time that you had ad dressed a similar communication to the president of each dub in Ihe American Am-erican league. 'In your communication of October 15 you, among other things say: ' 'All contracts, documents, accoun's or papers of any kind pertaining to the buslnesi ol she Anericah iei u which are in my possession or under my control have always been open at any time to the inspection of the pres idem or any officers of any club in i the league and are now open to such ! inspection ' Johnson Scored "At today's meeting of the board of directors (which you. as usual, did not attend) the question was raised as to what your real relations to this league are. "To enable us to reach a proper' conclusion upon this subject we re quest that you do Immediately submit, to our representative. Nicholas F.I Lanseen. who will present this communication com-munication to you. all resolutions, or contracts, arrangements or agreements which undertake to establish anv con tractual or other relations, whether ns president, officer or employe, between be-tween you and the American league of professional baseball clubs." |
