Show TWO CANTATAS PLANNED. Tho chorus from tho School for tho Blind under tho direction of Miss Ivino Shields will glvo a concert in tho near futuro. They will sing "The Captive" by Victor Herbert in American composer com-poser and "May Day" by G. A. Mc-Farren. Mc-Farren. Both works are very difllcult, especially tho former which is a dramatic dram-atic cantata written for chorus, baritone bari-tone and soprano solo. Mr. D. J. Thurman, principal of the school, will sing tho baritone solo and Miss Jane Sands of Salt Lako will sing tho soprano so-prano solo. Miss Sands Is a talented singer and teacher who secured most of her musical education abroad. Tho concert will bo givon in ono of tho down town churches and will be for tho benefit of tho Red Cross. Every pupil In tho school takes part In tho choruses, ovon to the tiniest child. The pupils preseutod two programs last yoar but tho singing is much improved im-proved this yoar and It is considered qulto a difficult feat to present two cantatas In ono evening, especially since overy word must be memorized. Not only Ogdenltes but people from all through tho state are always Interested In-terested In tho accomplishments of tho pupils of the school for the blind and their programs draw the attention of nearly everyone in tho city. This years event will undoubtedly bo one of the most delightful ovor given. |
