Show BOH MB IS A MOST BELIHTOL ACTSESS Ogdon got its first taste of Ibsen on tho stage last night at the Orpheum theater and it was wonderful aB interpreted in-terpreted by such a consummate artist art-ist as Borgny Hammer. The audience was mixed, but tho Scandinavian ele-mentl ele-mentl preponderated Scandinavians who instinctively understand Ibsen and who viewed with rapl interest the delineation of tho strange character of Hedda Gabler. But even the most insensible could not have failed to acknowledge ac-knowledge tho superb acting of Mrs. Hammer, every tiny, jesturo, every suppressed sup-pressed sigh, every half finished expression ex-pression was eloquent. Tho cast was a notable cast, even Including a Utah girl. Rolf Hammer played the role of Judge Brack. Ellen von Volkenburg was splendid as Mrs. Elvsted. Knowles Entriken played the rolo of Eilert Lovborg. Maurice Brown of the LItllo theater, Chicago, played tho role of George Tesman. Mae Edwards, Ed-wards, of Utah, acted lhe part of Miss Juliana Tesman. Madame Hammer's hardly perceptible percept-ible accent was charming. It just gave tho flavor of tho north which was needed to aid In the analysis of the complex Hedda just the touch of physical strangeness to aid the psychic. A program of Scandinavian music arranged by Hammer greatly aided the dralua. |
