Show - CENNABAR PLANT IN CENTRAL NEVADA M. D. Farrctta and Frank Childress, who, with John Ross, are' operating a cinnabar property in the Jersey section sec-tion south of Bnttle .Mountain, were in town yesterday and part of today. In speaking of their enterprise thoy stated stat-ed that their reduction plant which is Jiow in course of construction would be in full operation during the next two weeks. John Ross, well known practical mining and mill man. is there and superintending tho Installation of the plant. When completed the plant will contain twelve retorts to reduce the ore to quicksilver, besides the other necessary machinery, which is all new and of modern pattern. With the reduction plant the operators, opera-tors, have had erected a bunkhouse, cookhouse and office at the property. At the present time there are 10 men at work there on the mill and in the, mine. In speaking of the property, Messers.; Ferretta nnd Childress stated that there was an immenso body of cinnabar cinna-bar ore uncovered. Tho ledge carrying tho vermillion ore is traceable for considerable distance and is of great width. Already there Is enough of tho i ore on the dumps to keep the plant running for over a year. Ore samples shown in Winnemucca today are a beautiful vermillion color and are undoubtedly high in mercury contents. This property is situated about 73 miles southwest from Battle Mountain and about the same distance from Winriomucca. Winnemucca Star. |
