A statement of unusual interest was recontly received at the Tanlac office frdm Mme. Jan MantelU, tho noted grand opera singer, who was formerly former-ly a member of the Metropolitan Opera Op-era company of New York, where she achieved distinction as leading contralto, con-tralto, singing on the same stage with Melba, Nordica, Calve. Eamos, Scm-brlch, Scm-brlch, Jean and Eduard De Rcszke, and other stars of the first magnitude. A few years ago Mme. Mantelll was forced by ill health to retire from the operatic stage. She is now living In Portland, Ore., where she hasan apartment apart-ment in the Royal Annex building 35(H Morrison street, and in telling of her experience with Tanlac said: "I feel that I cannot praise Tanlac too highly, for it has done me more real good than all the other medicines I have ever taken put together. "About eight years ago," she continued, con-tinued, "while traveling in the south I left Havana for Chicago, in the dead of winter, where the thermometer was IS degrees below zero, and this was tho beginning of serious trouble 'for me. The sudden change brought on such a severe cold that I almost completely com-pletely lost my voice and was obliged to leave the stage. I went to California Califor-nia to work in moving pictures, but my health failing, I had to give that up, too. I decided to rest a while, and try to build myself up, but got steadily worse. I lost my appetite, everything tasted alike, and I couldn't enjoy eating eat-ing a thing. My kidneys were in bucIi a terrible condition that I thought at times the pain in my back would drive me distracted. My lower limbs and feet were so awfully swollen I couldn't stand up at all and my nerves were in such a wretched state that, with my kidneys worrying me so much, I just couldn't rest at night. I became so weak and rundown, and was so discouraged dis-couraged and miserable that I didn't care what happened. "I was actually down in bed when one day I read a statement about Tanlac Tan-lac that Impressed me so much that I just got up out of bed and went to the telephone to order a bottle. The druggist couldn't send it at once so I asked a stranger passing through the hall to get it for me. Well, he did and by the next morning I was feeling much improved. After this my nights wore more restful and I slept better than I had in some time. I continued the treatment and it wasn't long before be-fore every bit of the swelling had gone out of my limbs and feet, and 1 was able to get up and walk abouL I am just starting on my third bottle now, and really, I can hardly get enough to satisfy my appetite and I heartily enjoy en-joy all my meals. My kidneys don't worry me at all now and I am free from that awful misery in my back. I sleep like a baby, and am so much better bet-ter in every way that I am now working work-ing again. I am tellilng all my friends what a wonderful medicine Tanlac is, and have written to my daughter in New York advising her to take It." Tanlac is sold in Ogden by A. R.
