Show ANGELS AND CUBS EXCHANGE PLAYERS LOS ANGELES. March 19. Tele Sfandridge and Art Meusel were turned turn-ed over to the Angels today in part payment for Harry Woltcr, President Powers announced today, on his return re-turn from San Francisco, where he conferred with Owner Charles Weegh-man Weegh-man of the Chicago Cubs. Meusel and Standridfic will Join the Angels tomorrow. tomor-row. One more Angel will be given to the Angels by the Cubs, but Powers and Chance have not decided what man they will take. Chance sent his squad through a fast practice today. The P. L. is more than pleased with the way the club la lining up and will keep the boys going go-ing at top speed for the remainder of the training season Manager George Stovall of tho Tigers Ti-gers tied the 'hardware" to two more of his youngsters today. The men to I go are Ivan Olsen, southpaw pitcher! recruited from Idaho, and Des Cresple.j youngster recommended by "Swede" Risberg. Olsen failed to show the necessary control. His arm also failed fail-ed to get in good shape The canning of these two brings the Tiger roster down somewhat, and only a few of the youngsters remain. The Tigers were sent through two workouts today and will do the same for the rest of the training seagon, as the "firebrand" Is a bit peeved over the condition of his men. He says that his players will be In shape by the opening of the season, or ho will get a new bunch, and start all over again.! Tomorrow a practice game between the regulars and the yannlgans will start an every other day series for the rest of the conditioning period. Stovall drove his men to the limit today. He had them out bright and early and never let up a minute all the while the men were on the field. |
