Show NO DISCRIMINATION AGAINST OUR GERMANS. A movement was started in Ogden, ' at a club meeting, to discriminate against pro-Germans. This is wrong.' Our Germans are entitled to show the I deepest sympathy and love for the fatherland and to declare their faith I in German institutions. They would ! be strangely eonptnuted if they did! not feel overwhelmed at the present turn of affairs which brings them to the point of deciding whether to move straight ahead or turn to the left, and no American or group of Americans should add to the prrplex-ities prrplex-ities which are upon our fellow townsmen by casting suspicion or proposing pro-posing a boycott. Under nastrinc and distrust, the most loyally Inclined would revolt in sheer desperation There are fin-brands among the Germans of this country, hut the great majority will become reconciled and do their part to maintain the prestige of America. We must prove worthy of the allegiance alleg-iance of the men of German birth who are with us by BXtcndlng to them a confidence which only their own overt acts can destroy. We must accept them as a part of us. remembering that in American history no names stand more prominently in the list of devoted soldiers, statesmen and country upbuilders than those of the nun oi German blood |
