Show NO HANDICAP GOLFf LIST TO BE PUBLISHED J I CHICAGO. March 22. Crafts w Higins, assistant secretary of the Western Golf association, tonight an- nounced that there would be no handicap handi-cap list published by the association! thl6 year, becauso more than 100 clubs had failed to turn in the handl-1 caps of their leading players. The call j k for handicaps was sent out early in February with a tune limit set at' March 20. When the time for reporting handicaps handi-caps had expired, with returns missing miss-ing from HFi clubs, the executive committee com-mittee of the Western Golf association decided to discontinue publication of the annual handicap report. Similar action was taken last year by the "United States Golf association for the same reason. Last year the Western Golf association associa-tion had trouble in getting reports on handicaps from the various clubs The list went to press with forty clubs "tii86ing, and complaints wore made that some well-known tournament players were not listed The executive execu-tive committee found that, while the clubs reeented omission of their play J ers' handicaps, they would not take the trouble to turn'ln the figures. The result will be that handicaps lor tournament play will have to be fixed at the first tee at the start of each tournament in which members of two or more clubs participate.' There will be no confusion at cham-, Pionshlp meets, as all play is at et-ratch. |
