Show tJU STATUE OF MORONI FLOODED WITH LIGHT SALT LAKE, March 30. Standing out in bold relief against the starlit sky, the angel Moroni last night between be-tween 9 and 10 o'clock was the cynosure cyno-sure of thousands of eyes. From its lofty pinnacle on the temple the statue stat-ue reflected the gleams from eleven powerful flood-light projectors of 130.-000 130.-000 candle power each. A battery of projectors was stationed on the top of the Hotel Utah. Bardie) Brothers engineered en-gineered the illumination. The power was furnished by the Utab Power & Light company. E. H. Eardley of Eardley Brothers, electricians, assisted in the first wiring wir-ing of the statue in 1893. The next illumination was in 1897, during the semi-centennial Jubilee in celebration of the advent of the pioneers to Utah. The occasion last night was for the purpose ol experimenting to determine the best means of lighting tho statue. It is expected, however, to construct a permanent lighting system by which the statue will be visible every night. |
