General Victorian Huerta called an election in 1911 and declared himself elected but later nullified the election on the grounds that an insufficient number of votes had been cast His election to the presidenc marks the climax to the efforts of General Carranza ,who took the field against Huerta February 19, 1913, after af-ter Huerta had seized the executive power. The election today was simplified by the fact that there is no vice president pres-ident under the new constitution. lt will be some time, however, before the returns of the congressional elections elec-tions are definitely known, although the candidates on the ticket of the Constitutionalist-Liberal party, which first backed Carranza. are running stronglv in most of the districts.
