Disturbing fresh reports concerning crop conditions in Saskatchewan had a bullish effect today to-day on the wheat market A leading expert telegraphed from Reglna, Saskatchewan, Sas-katchewan, that northward from Es-tevan, Es-tevan, Saskatchewan, the fields were all Infected with rust, though not so badly to the east. Higher quotations from Liverpool .'tended also to strengthen the buying demand, and to make offerings scarce. Opening prices hero, which ranged from 7-8 to j 2 l-8c up with September at $1.30 3-4 to 1.32 and December at $1.35 3-8 to 1.36, were followed by a moderate reaction, re-action, but then by a great advance. Corn hardened with wheat At times, however, the market showed some weakness owing to rain reports. After opening a shade off to 1 l-4c higher, prices steadied at slightly above yesterday's finlBh. Crop damage advices from tne northwest helped to lift oats. Commission Com-mission houses were active buyers. Provisions rose in consequence of an advance in the hog market. Sellers Sell-ers wero scarce. Reports of Increased damage from black rust In Manitoba tended further to hoist wheat values. Foreigners and exporters wero said to be among the leading buyers. The close was strong 4 to 4 5-8c net higher with September Sep-tember $1.34 1-2 and December, $1.38 1-4. s Some demand from the seaboard helped to keep the corn market pointed upgrade most of the time. The close was steady at 5-8 to 1 3-8c net advance. SASKATCHEWAN CROP. Reglna, Saskatchewan, Aug. 4. Saskatchewan's wheat crop this year will average at least twenty bushels to the acre, In the opinion of F. H. Auld, acting department of agriculture agricul-ture minister. No Black Rust in Alberta. Edmonton, Alta., Aug. 4. H. A. Craig, deputy minister of the provincial provin-cial department of agriculture, said today: "There Is absolutely no trace of black rust In the wheat fields of Alberta," basing his statement on the reports of government experts. CRUDE OIL PRICES. Findlay, Ohio, Aug. 4. Another drop of 10 cents a barrel In the product of six grades of oil was announced by the Ohio Oil company here today.
