Show DEADLOCK IN DYE SITUATION Germany Refuses to Release Dyestuffs to Americans Unless Un-less Cotton Is Sent to Them. Washington, July 7. Efforts of the United States government to secure dyestuffs from Germany for American manufacturers have reached a deadlock dead-lock which appears unbreakable and officials here today expressed little hope of an arrangement being mado which would give this country a supply sup-ply of German-made colors The German government Is understood under-stood to have taken the position that, unless American cotton reaches German Ger-man ports, no dyestuffs will be released re-leased for export. While the state department continues contin-ues its efforts to secure the material, the bureau of foreign and domestic commerce in the department of commerce com-merce has Instructed Erwin W. Thomas, Thom-as, commercial attache at Berlin, to report on the dyestuff situation. |
