Show FORMER BINGHAM MAN DIES AT PORTLAND Max Geffen returned Monday from Portland where he 'was called hurriedly hur-riedly on the 9th Inst, to the bedside of his father who was reported to' be seriously ill. He reached the family home in time to see his father alive, but that was about all, as the old gentleman passed away at 7 o'clock on the morning of November Novem-ber 11. ' ' i Hyman Geffen, the deceased, was a resident of Bingham Canyon from 18D9 until February 1921, and was well and favorably known to the people of the camp during his 22 years here. He was engaged in the jewelry business and at the time of his departure was located in the building now occupied by the Goodyear Good-year Shoe Shop. He moved with his family to Portland, Oregon where he engaged in business and prospered faily well until about two years ago when his father began to fail and forced him to retire. According to report, he was never able to recover his former good state of health and. about three weeks ago his health began rapidly to fail. This was the beginning of the end. The deceased was born in Kovno, Russia, August 12, I860. He is survived sur-vived by a wife and six children, Max who is the eldest of the family, who resides in this city; Mrs. Max Dav-( idson, David I. Cecile, Rose and Ar-' nold, all of Portland, the family address ad-dress being 594 East 26th North' street. Funeral services were held Friday, November 12, interment being in a Portland cemetery. |
