The fourteenth chapter of if i SI tne Book o Revelation reveals the H I IB last great gospel message that "was I JIB to go to the vjorld, and shows it will It ' m develop a people that heaven can say it B of them, 'Here is the patience of the B I3 saints; here are they that keep the I , commandmants of God, and the faith I y of Jesus.' Ml "The Islands of the South Sea are II nnrt of tlip nations and tonsrues of IS the earth, and part of the islands IS? that were to wait for the law of God. ifjj 'a few years ago I was sent by I h the Mission Board of the Seventh-day I B5 Adventist to the Fijian Islands, In Vk jjSf the South Seas. The Fijian Islands ij' ijffl are a very remarkable group of isl- I 8 Hj ands. There are about 360 islands I'M in all. The largest is about eighty ill! 'IUI miles In length and fifty or sixty in Hy m width. Most of these islands are sur- H jjdj rounded by coral reefs. Usually there j! R3 is a break in these reefs which en- H nl ables boats to have an entrance. fii II These islands arc very beautiful. The HI I 1 1 climate is about the same the year Hj Hj round. While the middle of the day j lyj is quite warm, yet the ocean breezes, J I flj which usually come up during the Hj) M day, cools the atmosphere. K; Hj "There are very few that speak the m' J ij English language, and it becomes ' wilt necessary for one to labor with this ft y ilo people to acquire the language of the I ' ilfil people first. The Fijian language is f i , I net difficult to learn. Tne people are ; J jj hospitable, and are glad to listen to V h the white man. J fjl "When beginning my work with , , llll these people, the merchants of the iw place said, they were wholly unreli- ;; (in! able. No one else could partake of ,ij I it unless they had special permission (jij IH from the chief. I have a sort of a ' j club in my possession which has been II used to take the lives of many that were disposed of by these people. i-M lint And also a fork which was used by n r MM certain chief to partake of human ll m flesh. These people at the present !' lift tiin3 have teen won from tne evils ij.j of cannibalism. !;( "Not only will the Fijians listen to i d J j the preaching of the gospel, but they I' II Wil1 hasten to respond. Though they 1 i j t have much to overcome, the grace of I iW God iB BufflcIent r them. Those I il ! llll who are converted give up their grog, I i Hi tobasco and any evil thing that would I 1 8 tends to poison the physical being I 1 llll They are a tender hearted people ami 1 jjlf appreciate much the gospel of the BiPWI Ird Jesus Christ- We now have mi i .1 II eighteen churches, comprehending in H'H.111 a'i600 Sabbath-keeping Fijians. The Fijian elder who I) I I was fearful that some of his people I 1 1 niight attend the dance, which wal iheid on the town commons, called a meeting in the afternoon, In the chinch, and admonished all the people, peo-ple, young and old, to make special effort to be present. The time came for meeting. The dancers could be heard In their revellngs. But the seventh-day people were all at their church. The elder took his text and preached an hour, but the dance was not over. He then said, T will preach my sermon again.' So he repeated the sermon. Still the dance continued. contin-ued. Tho elder then gave opportunity opportu-nity for testimony, and when the meeting was over it was dark. All of his congregation remained, and the dance was over. I relato this to show how sincere and faithful these people peo-ple are to the law of God when they accept of Christ. "One brother is a canvasser. He is oer eight' years of age. He Is hair less, tooth-less and blind. He has a lad lead him around with a short pole from village to village. "A certain minister who accepted the Sabbath reform attended a service, serv-ice, where the Sabbath was opposed. The usual texts were used that are used by those who oppose the Sabbath Sab-bath of the fourth commandment. At the close of the service the minister min-ister came to him, and asked. What do you think of your sabbath now The minister answered, 'You have given giv-en no positive command for the keeping keep-ing of the first day of the week. I am more convinced now that the seventh- day is the Sabbath of Jehovah, and will continue to keep It. When it comes to the judgment, if it is found I have kept the wrong day, I will bring a charge against God, who 'gave the law from Mount Sinai, and wrote it with his own finger on the rock, and who also kept the Sabbath; I will bring a charge against Jesus Christ, who was a faithful Sabbath-keeper, aud who said, 'Whosoever shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, the same shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven;' I will bring a charge against all the prophets of the Old Testament, for they were Sabbath-keepers, and taught the law of God; I will bring a charge against the apostles and prophets of the New Testament, they also kept the Sabbath, and now, when you come to the judgment, and find you are keeping the wrung day for the Sabbath, who will you bring a charge against?' May God help us that we be faithful In the keeping of all his commandments, that we may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates Into the city." Pastor E. W. Farnsworth will speak tonight on "Will the Millennium offer of-fer a second probation to the wicked?" |
