Show SEVEN BRITISH SHIPS ARE SUNK London, Aug. 20. Germany's apparent appar-ent determination to break the British Brit-ish blockade of the seas was evidenced evidenc-ed today by the sinking of seven British Brit-ish steamships of a total tonnage of 20,600. A report issued by the admiralty during tho day stated that in the week ending August 18, two British merchantmen had been mined and sunk, while elevon steamships had been submarined and sunk. The total to-tal tonnage of the thirteen vessels was 22,790 tons In addition, ten trawlers were Bunk. It will be thus seen that today's sinkings total in entire week epding with last Wednesday Wednes-day Coming on top of the sinking of the Arabic, today's great activity Is taken to Indicate that renewed desperate efforts are to be made to shut off England from supplies of food and munitions. Two neutral steamsnips were also submarined and sunk during the day. One was the Spanish steamer Pena Castillo and the other the Norwegian steamer Svcrresborg of Bergen. Tho Pena Castillo was of 1718 tons and her crew was saved. The fato of the crew of the Sverresborg, a vessel of 1144 tons. Is unknown. The British ships reported sunk during the day follow: Brlttern, 1797 tons, of Cork, crew saved Samara, 3172 tons, of Glasgow, crew saved. Gladiator, 3359 tons, of Liverpool, crew of thirty-six saved. Ben Brackle, 3908 tons, of Glasgow, crew saved. New York City, 2970 tons, of Bristol, Bris-tol, crew saved. Baron Erskine, 3505 tons, of Glasgow, Glas-gow, crew saved. Rostermel, 1349 tons, of Cardiff, crew saved. oo SUMMONS.
