Show CHAPEL FOR TIE OEAF AND BUI BEING ERECTED Contractor George S. Burnham has begun excavating for the State Deaf and Blind students' school on Liberty avenue and Twenty-first street. Tho structure will be completed soon after af-ter tho opening of the school for the winter. The building will be modern mod-ern In every detail and will have an independent heating planL It will be 35 by 60 feet, the floor to be seven feet from the ground and will be of brick and concrete material. The Mormon church is erecting the building for the benefit of Mormon students and those of other religious faith who care to attend a Mormon church during the school year. The contract price for the structure Is $9500 Avithout the heating and plumbing, plumb-ing, and it Is estimated that the cost of the building, when completed, will be in excess of 11,000. The state school is necessarily non-sectarian non-sectarian and It was deemed advisable advisa-ble by the leaders of tho Mormon church that there should be a chapel erected and set apart for the students whose parents desire them to have a district religious training. Regular church services will be held in the chapel each Sunday and on other days when required, and special theological instructors will be engaged to direct the services for both the deaf and the blind. nn |
