Eight men, who did not give satisfactory explanations explana-tions of their presence here, were rounded up last night, placed in a box car on a freight train and sent away. The car was guarded safely until the train left the town limits. Since Leo M. Frank was lynchc' here AuguBt 17. several persons, whose business in tho town was not known, have been Invited to leave. Five men were ordered away yesterday. These events and tho continual re-colpt re-colpt of letters threatening various sorts of vengeance for Frank's lynching, lynch-ing, caused the police of this city to increase their officers by fifteen today. to-day. The letters are being received from all parts of the country by persons per-sons who have given statements on the Frank case to newspapers outside tho state. Some of the letters have been turned turn-ed over to postoffice inspectors at Atlanta. oo . |
