Show PUBLIC LANDS ARE RESTORED TO ENTRY Washington. L. C. Nov 13. More than two hundred thousand acres of public land that had been withdrawn from entry were restored during October, Oc-tober, according to an announcement made today by Secretary Lane of the Interior department. President Wilson Wil-son has approved the restoration, which throws open the land to settle ment. The largest restoration ol such lands was in Montana, where :i vast tract had been held up by the government pending investigation as to its coal deposits Secretary Laue declnres that about 58,000,000 acres of public landB now are closed to settlement until their coal bearing values are determined Of the land already lassifl.-rj by the department as coal lands and restored to surface entry, the secretary adds, eighteen million acres alone ir v.v ued by the government at $761,000.-000. |
