An exquisite piece of Chinese em-I em-I broidery once gave me the color scheme for a living room. The bodv of the piece was of that indescribable shade of old pink which has once been a deep coral red, but has faded to a soft rose, the embroidery combined, with gold and silver threads, the colors, col-ors, Jade. green, turquoise blue, creamy yellow and a delicate peach pink. My eye was so filled and es-tranced es-tranced by this delicious combination of color tones that I determined to use all of them In one room Mv au-1 thority was reliable, for the Chinese are past masters in tho art of color combination. I decided to run the gamut from the deepest coral red to (he palest sea sheii pink as a background back-ground for a mosaic of the other col-1 ors, and I realized that I could bring them all together by a liberal Introduction Intro-duction of gold and silver gilt. To render the description clear I ' would say that by a "peach pink" ls nie-int pink which has yellow io It,' while "peachf yellow" indicates yellow yel-low Id which pink Is embodied.
