Show oo W1LLARD HAS A NEW CHURCH BUILDING The young people of Willard. Box Elder county, were well entertained on Saturday eveuing with a dancing party in the new amusement hall. The affair was given by the Y. L M I a. of the Willard ward and was nicely arranged In every detail. A pretty decorative scheme was carried out with the use of native vines and r6ses which, with the shading of the large frosted light globes with amber am-ber crepe paper, made a charming scene The refreshment booth, aside from its usual attractive elements, was made more attractive by the presence pres-ence of three popular members or the association who served delicious orange punch and assorted Utahna stick candy to the guests. The musical program was well taken care of by an orchestra composed com-posed of Miss Annie Grandprey, piano; .James White, I o 1 1 n ; Vernon Ward, cornet, of Willard. and Axel Nylander, flute; Leith Pearson, cello; and Otto Larson, cornet, of Ogden. Several Ogden guests were present and expressed themselves as being well pleased with the cordial manner in which they were treated by their Willard friends and also spoke In n very complimentary way of the excellence ex-cellence of the party. The members of the arrangement committee were Mrs. Phoebe Harding and the Misses Ethel Ward. Irene Anderson, Hazel Korth, Ethel Brun-ker Brun-ker and Delia Dalton The refreshments refresh-ments were served by the Misses Esther Roth, Vera Ward and Echo Nebeker. The new meeting house and amusement amuse-ment hall at Willard is a fine example ex-ample of the interest taken by the parents of the community for the social so-cial and spiritual betterment of the young people. The building was erected at a cost of $16,000, which ,v raised by popular eubscrlptiou and 16 constructed of the best glazed brick and cement. It Is steam heated throughout and every possible comfort com-fort is included In its construction The auditorium of the meeting house has a seating capacity of 50" and is finely furnished. Adjoining the meeting house, nt the rear, is the amusement hall, which, it is hoped, will give the young people all the indoor entertainment enter-tainment that is necessary or desirous de-sirous With this idea in view. It has been arranged so as to fill every ev-ery want and occupies tho entire upper up-per floor of the addition to the main building. At the wpM end of the hall is tho orchestra balcony which will bca about 12 musicians. At the foot of the balcony stair Is the refreshment bower. At each side of the hall in the open air. is a nicely arranged rest balcony. The dancing surface, made of finest fin-est maple, occupies 40x70 feet of floor space and is In splendid condition. condi-tion. Ragging has been strictly taboo at all the dancing parties, as being objectionable to the vjcht and injurious to the youthful grace of the young people. A stage, 40x25 feet, with a proscenium pros-cenium arch C'i feet from base to base occupies the east end of the hall and has been permanently constructed. con-structed. Several dressing rooms and several sets of handsome scenery are among the accessories to the Stage The acoustic properties nf the ball are excellent and the lighting system Is artistic as well as advantageously arranged. Under the hall, on the first floor, are the class rooms of the different organizations and also the baptismal font. The people of Willard are quite proud of the new building, and jusil so, for it is a credit to the public splritedne6s of the community. oo |
