Show SUICIDE IN A mcmahon SENDS BULLET THROUGH BRAIN stranger an fn city loaves letter to salt lake paper and one to odd fellows i from fridays standard after writing two letters one 10 lo a salt lake paper and the other to the local lodge ot odd fellows H T me mahon aged about 42 a stranger in the city but whose home Is in ontario canada partially undressed himself laid down on his bed in his room in a rooming house at twenty fifth street placed a revolver la his mouth and shot himself death as almost instantaneous and when found by his brother 0 mcmahon at about 1 this morning he was cold in death and showed no evidence 0 baa ing made a struggle his head rested on the pillow and his hands were folded across his body while the bed and pillow were saturated with blood from be letters which were left by the dead man and abich were opened by sergeant who was notified as soon as the suicide had been discovered it was seen that the man had been in love with some woman who had forsaken him for another roan that part ot his letter relating to the woman was rambling and its reference could boit be understood the second letter was to the local lodge of odd fellows aud contained a certificate of deposit for on the utah national bank signed by ralph hoag cashier the letter requested that the secretary of the lodge take charge of ats effects and have his remains shipped to ontario canada tor interment the letter also requested that after paying his expenses the remainder of his property be turned to his brother the landlady mrs C E silsbee Sils bce said that soon after midnight as she was going down the hall toward her room ehe heard a shot as did also some of her men boarders hoarders hoar ders but they eald that tte sho had been fired from the outside so ghe went to her room and to bed about 1 0 clock C Ic Mahon a brother of the suicide came to her rooan and called to her saying my god my brother hag committed suicide mrs ellabee arose and found that it was only too true and imme telephoned tor the police sergeant and officer responded and took charge of the effects of the dead man mrs silsby man and liis brother cameto her house yesterday and secured a room and that she knew nothing about them except that they seemed to be quiet men C mcmahon the dead mans brother was greatly agitated and all that could be learned from him was that he and his brother had come but recently from alteo bev and that ithell home was jn ontario canada larkin sons were notified of the death and took charge of the remains which removed to the undertaking establishment where they will toe prepared tor burial |
