Show uu NO HIDDEN COPPER AT JERSEY PLANTS A party who has just returned from an inspection trip to some of the New Jersey copper refineries, in speaking of the business which these concerns are now doing, says to ThoinpiVi, Towle & Co.: "The Raritan rofincry of Perth Am-boy Am-boy is working to capacity and turning turn-ing out 27,000,000 pounds of copper a month. The enlarging of the plant is now in progress and tho ultimate capacity ca-pacity will be increasod to 32,000,000 pounds per month. This work, however, how-ever, will not be completed for six months. While there are stocks of blister there are absolutely no stocks of refined copper on hand at this plant, "At the American Smelting & Refining Re-fining plant at Perth Amboy the refinery re-finery Is running full. Here there is some ingot copper on hand, but I understand un-derstand that all of this has been Hold. There are, however, as at the Ruri-tan Ruri-tan refinery, stocks of bllshor waiting to be refined, "At the United States plant at Chrome there in absolutely no stock of refined copper on hand. "From what I can understand this condition at the various copper refineries re-fineries seems general and the report that there are hidden supplies of the motal on hand la certainly without foundation, at least at the refineries which 1 havo visited. It is true that they have considerable blister copper at these plants, but this condition is normal, as there Is always more or Icbs of this material on hand to insure in-sure the continuous operation of the refineries." |
