Show THIRD WARD SERVICES SUNDAY A program of exceptional merit marked tho con-Joint session of tho Mutual Improvement association of the Third ward, which was held In tho ward chapel yesterday evening. Tho Invocation was offered by Mrs. Emily Maddoclc The main feature of the program was the reading of Lowell's "Tho Vision of Sir Launfal" by Moroni Olsen. Mr. Olsen, who Is known locally lo-cally for his fine work in amateur theatricals, has Just returned from o year's study in the King School of Dramatic Art and Expression In Boston, Bos-ton, Mass., and. la his reading last night displayed marked development ln his chosen art. In his interpretation of the well-known well-known poem the reader portrayed the several characters with Intelligence and brought home to his hearers the forceful sermon contained in the pretty 3tory of Sir Launfal's search for the "Holy Grail." Mr.Olsen is surely a welcome addition addi-tion to the talent of tho city and his work last evening was appreciated "The Second Trial," a story of much heart interest, was read by Miss Laura WheolwrJght In a manner that held the undivided attention of the large audience. The following musical numbers were pleasingly rendered during the evening and wore greatly onjojed:: Bass solo, "O, May My Walk Bo Close with God," Walter Stevens Quintette. "Dreaming," Gladys and Myrtle Stratford, Tressa Scott, Lilllc and I.orene Oborn. Bass colo, "Cast 'Thv Bread Upon the Waters," H. J. Ware Soprano solo, "O, Love Divine," Irettn Fife Bass solo, "Be Thou with Me," Walter Stevens. A brief address to the mutual workers work-ers and an exposition of the summer outline was given by Mrs. McFar-land McFar-land of the stake board, and the benediction ben-ediction was offered bv Bishop Wm. D. Van Dyke, Jr. |
