Darrow's reputation In Chicago, his hom.o aod the scene of hie grealost activities for a quarter of a century, as attested by the evidence of numerous nu-merous jurists and others high in the public llfo of that city and the state of Illinois, will be the first matter mat-ter placed before the jury in the Dar-row Dar-row bribery trial by the defense, which expected to begin the presentation presenta-tion of its case late today or early tomorrow A mass of depositions testifying to the reputation of Mr. Darrow for truth and integrity as well as his hiph standing as a member of the Illinois bar were expected to be read to the jury before any witnesses were placed on the stand. Among those whoBo evidence was taken were Mayor Carter H. Harrison; two former mayor, Hempstead Washburn Wash-burn and Fred A. Busse; two former United States senators, William E Mason and Albert J. Hopkins; more than a scoro of judges, as many prominent prom-inent lawyers of Chicago and several ministers of tho gospel.
