Show 1 ' ( m CELEBRATE AT HOME. H I" There arc to be motor races and other amusements on the Fourth j H of July. On July 17 the Retail Merchants are to have an outing in ht Em r the canyon. The 24th of July should be properly observed as Pioneer H f a preparations now should be under wa 11x3 ( Ogden too often has neglected to provide amusements on holi- 8 l3 ' days and too often the people have gone to distant places to find en- BEB' joyment. This should be corrected in order to prevent a financial Iftfll drain on the community, and, furthermore, to make it possible for IH Ogdenites at home to enjoy the diversions which are demanded by U Um 'le PeoPle today. y n "We have seen trainloads of excursionists returning from Saltan Ml 11 or a -ne every one wearied and worn, husbands scolding wives I HI nn( cdren crying after mothers, and all declaring they would U never again ride forty miles to borrow so much trouble when at half I fl ke effort and at no cost they could find as much misery at home. InH Even the Retail Merchants have reformed. They have sworn IB off and hereafter will hold their outings iu the canyon or some other IH near-by resort. They are to be congratulated on their good judg- II ment. Ill But, notwithstanding long journeys in search of the goddess of lH Aappiness, invariably bring woe, our people will persist in the delu- m on if Ogden does not provide holiday attractions. There is but H one thing to do and that is give the people what they want, and thereby keep them and their money within the boundaries of our trade zone. II There should be a committee named by the Publicity Bureau to M urge the importance of observing all holidays and that committee f should begin to act at once to stir up interest in the celebrating of the )1 Fourth and the Twenty-fourth. m |
