Show SURVEY OF SNAKE RIVER. Twin Falls, Sopt 23. An official survey of Snake river canyon Is being be-ing made by a party from tho department depart-ment of the United States geological survoy. They began, their work at .Minidoka and aro making their -ryj westward. Much interesting data Is being compiled by tho surveyors. Official figures given out by this party show interesting facts regarding regard-ing tho height of tho canyon and Shoshone falls are only 200 feet instead in-stead of 312 foet high, as popularly bolleved. Tho survey also shows that the falls are 800 feet wide at the brink. The elevations of Point Garfield on tho north Bldo and Point McKlnley on the south side are shown to bo 3745 feet and 3700 feet respectively. |
