Show STATE NEWS DEMOCRATS NOMINATE. ML Pleasant, Sopt 23. Tho following follow-ing ticket was nominated by the Democratic county convention held at Ephralm last Saturday. Tho convention conven-tion was attended by 101 delegates, but two small precincts being unrepresented unrep-resented The convention was harmonious har-monious and enthusiastic John S. County superintendent of schools Heber S Olson, Fairviow, Representatives to the state legislature legis-lature Joseph .lucid of Mantl and Peter Pe-ter Sundwall of Fairviow. BIG FIRE AT HELPER Price. Sopt 23. This morning at 4 o'clock the Loweneteln Mercantile building at Helper was partly destroyed de-stroyed by fire and a $30,000 stock of merchandise will havo to be sold at a groat l038. The cause of the five is unknown, but it started on tho second sec-ond flood, which is used as a danco hall and picture show The second story of tho building wan destroyed excepting the walls. The Jowor part was saved through the heroic work of cltlzons. Had the frame building on either side of the building caught fire the town of Helper would have been almost al-most totally destroyed. There was only a small amount of Insurance carried and Lowensteln and his as-noclates as-noclates will sufrer a Bovere financial finan-cial loss. The building was erected at a cost of $13,500. The damage to the stock of goods is estimated at $20,000, and not more than -710,000 insurance was carried. R, J. Turner, who was arrosted ton days ago in connection with tho county shortage, appeared before Justice L. N. Harmon for preliminary hearing today and was discharged by the court. There Is still anothor charge against Mr. Turner, which will be heard durlug the present week. The amount Involved is very small and It Is believed Mr Turner will be able to explain. |
