Show 00 CITY ORDERS 1 AUTO FIRE WAGON The city recorder reported to the city commission last night that protests pro-tests against the establishing of sewor districts on Childs and Porter avenues In the southeastern part of the city, in the vicinity of Thirtieth and Thirty-first streets, had been filed. The matter was referred to the city engineer en-gineer for computation On the recommendation of Chief Norton and Commissioner T. Samuel Browning, R Young was appointed to the position of police officer without ray. The officer is employed by the Commercial Gnardlan Safety company Under the. direction of Superintendent Superintend-ent Browning of the public safety department, de-partment, the commissioners determined deter-mined to purchase a combination motor mo-tor driven engine and hose wagon at a cost of 55,000. It was explained by Commissioner Browning that the fire department la 'n need of horses and that he was certain that in the purchase of the proposed flre-fightlng device the cost of getting more horses would be obviated ob-viated and that it would be cheaper for the city in the long run. The machine ma-chine already has been ordered and will arrive in the .city in the early part of the fall of the year.
