Show uu- TEARS DRIP DOWN HIS FACE Charles Banford of Boston was charged in police court this morning with drunkenness. Althongh ho pleaded guilty and at first stated that he had nothing to say In explanation of hfs shortcomings, ho finally launched launch-ed himself into a discourso that lasted last-ed the greater part of the forenoon, tho judge and court attendants being evidently determined to allow the man to talk himself into a state of catalepsy. Tears dripped profusely from tho man's eyes during his speech and he frequently referred to them, stating that they were not due to grief but a sort of "crying illness" which came upon him a ear ago together with a ctroke of paialysis. He hastened to distinguish between "crying Illness" and "sleeping sickness" stating that the latter was an affliction of the conservatives, while only a true progres slve could fall heir to the first-named complaint. Having talked himself speechless, Banford was finally allowed to depart with a suspended sentence of forty days on the rock pile co |
