Show oo YOUNG BOY IS FATALLY WOUNDED Salt Lake, Aug. 6. Slegfred Nell-sen. Nell-sen. 15 years of age, son of P. C. Nellsen, 123G Emeraon avenue, was accidentally shot and fatally wounded wound-ed at the mouth of Parley's canyon at noon yesterday b his cham, George Roth, son of Joseph Roth, a tailor, living at 123S East Twelfth South Rtreet. With his right arm shattered Just below the armpit and his chest penetrated in the region of the right breast b the charge from a sixteen-gauge sixteen-gauge shotgun, tho boy lived for nearly near-ly two hours, dying at 1:50 at the emergency hospital. Two girl companions, Lucie Holder of 1186 Emerson avenue and Lucile Holaschuh of 1242 Roosevelt avenue were with the boys at the time of tho accident. Tho four had stopped to rest in the shade of two large trees after walking from the fruit farm of J. M. Fisher in Eaat Mill creek. where thev had gone in the morning to pick cherries. Their work concluded conclud-ed by 11 o'clock, they started to hunt mourning doves on their way homo. The shade of the trees attracted them and they stopped to teeter awhile In the low branches. There he met an automobile driven by Traccy Hutchinson, a fchauffeur living at the Celmont hotel. ho-tel. After the police were notified the boy was put in the car driven by Hutchinson and started for the city Tho party was met near the state prison by the police patrol carrying Policeman H. Smith and Secretary F. S. Spooncr Tho boy was put on a stretcher and the race for his life continued. Tho car had gone less than a block when a punctured tire brought It to a standstill. Secretary' Spooncr hurried to a telephone and called for the greyhound, which hastened has-tened to the rescue, with Driver William Wil-liam Hooper and Detectives Cleveland Cleve-land and Seager aboard Agalu the dying boy was transferred and hurried hur-ried to the emergency hospital. Drs Paul Spraguc and Ashley worked work-ed swiftly trying to save the life of the sturdy youth, who to the last endured en-dured with fortitude the agony of his wounds Word of his death prostrated his mother, who, on hearing of the nature of the accident, had hoped that the wound might not prove fatal. Mrs. Nollsen recently underwent an operation and is not strong. The father. P. C. Neilson. and an older brother of the unfortunate boy aro working in a creamery .in Great Falls, Mont. George Roth Is almost crazed with grief at the deplorable accident that resulted In the death of the best loved of all his companions Nellsen en-Joyed en-Joyed the respect of all of the older people of his neighborhood and was the object of considerable hero-worship on the part of the small boys who knew him.
