Show J. G. HEYWOOB INJURED WHEN AUTO UPSETS John G. Heywood, assistant city attorney, sustained ti dislocated hip and, with his father, A R. Heywood, president of the Commercial National Nation-al bank, A. E Wcatherby the local packor, and Fred Herrington, the sheepman, narrowly escaped Instant death at Bountiful last night when the Hoywood automobile turned turtle tur-tle In negotiating a sharp corner and was wrecked. Herrington and Weathcrby were hurled clear of the wreck hut the two Heywoods who occupied the front seat were pinned beneath the car, the father escaping unhurt. The young man was cared for at Bountiful and later conveyed to Ogden Og-den on a Bamberger car. Ho Is now in the Deo hospital where tho attending attend-ing physicians stato that his condition condi-tion is favorable for speedy recovery. recov-ery. Tlio accident happoned at the Bountiful corner which Is well known to autoists as a dangerous turn Th machine was running at a high rate of speed but the accident acci-dent was undoubtedly due to a flaw in tho construction of one of the rear wheels which collapsed from the strain, causing the car to turn com-plotoly com-plotoly over. The latter did so at once and would have rounded the turn successfully had tho off rear wheel stood tho strain This collapsed, however, and the car turned completely com-pletely over. Herrington landed partially on his feet, some distance from the car, and recoived only a socre wrenching as he wns thrown out. John Heywood was found to bo suffering considerable pain, It being be-ing evident that his leg had been thrown out of position by becoming caught In the steering gear when the car turned 'over. The .machine was lifted sufficiently sufficient-ly to extract the father and all three then made the young man as comfortable com-fortable as possible until tho arrival of tie next machine which was driven driv-en I v Dr. Sid Badson The latter quickly reduced the dislocation of Heywood's left hip and he was taken tak-en to Bountiful station and placed aboard a Bamberger car for Ogdon. It is considered a remarkable escape es-cape for all concerned. The car Is badly wrecked, Including a front and a back wheel, the wind shlold and portions of the tonneau. |
