Show . oo FIREMEN TO IEET AT EUREKA, AUG. 22 The official program for the tournament tour-nament of the Utah State Firemen's association, to be held at Eureka August 22. was issued yesterday. The festivities will begin with a parado at 10 a. in., which will be followed by an address of welcome by Mayor A. L. Mitchell of Eureka. The response re-sponse will be made bv Chief Bywa-ter Bywa-ter of the Salt Lako fire department, and speeches will be made by James Devine, former chief of the Salt Lake fire department, and Guy E. Miller, member of the executive board of the association. Tho athletic events and contests, which will be given at the, ball park at 2 o'clock In the afternoon, will Include In-clude tho following: Exhibition run by the Kansas City world's championship cham-pionship team, championship race for not more ; than slxtoen men to run 100 yards to a hydrant; laddor contest; hub race; firemen's hose coupling contest against time. 100- j yard dash, limited to two men from 1 each department; Pompier team ex- I hibitiou br Salt Lake City firemen: I 220-yard dash, limited to two men from each department: ladder-climbing contest i with hose and a relay raco of 8S0 yards. The memhers of the Tintlc Miners' union will join with the firemen In the celebration and the union has Prepared a program of sports for women wo-men and children to be given August ' 21. Cash prizes will be offered for j winners In the events or both the firemen's and miners' celebrations. In the evening of August 22 a grand ball will be held at the Elks' pavilion. |
