Show EMBEZZLER IS CAPTURED Kansas Bank Defaulter Sold Tamales In New York City Topeka, Aug. 21. John A. Flack, wanted on a charge of having defaulted de-faulted $75,000 of the funds of tho Abilene State bank at Abilene, Kas., where he was cashier, has been captured cap-tured In New York City, according to Information received today by J. M. Dolley, state 'bank commissioner. Flack was captured by Captain John J. Allen, apodal agent for the Kansas Banking department, after a chase covering 16 months. Flack's shortage was discovered two years ago. Ho was prominent In tho state and the charge against him caused a sensation. Flack turn-od turn-od over his home and property and left the country. "We first located Flack working In a bologna factory in New York, said Commissioner Dolley today. Then he moved to a book bindery and then we found him in Hoboken running run-ning a hot tamale joint He moved his boarding house every week and changed his name every time he movod. He received plenty of aid from the criminal element of New York. He seemed to have Information from his friends In Kansas that he was being hunted and thoso fellows In New York seemod to know our men and kept Flack posted as to when to move It has been a long, hard chase. I would rather hun for men In the wilds of Wyoming or the hills of Arkansas than in New York." A surety company of Now York, that had written Flack's bond as cashier of the bank, will pay part of the heavy expenso In enpturing and prosecuting him. Flack has been turned over to the surety company and the Identification by Its officials has been very positive |
