Show GRADING ON NEW CAR LINE Track men arc at work today on tho Twenty-third scroet extension, the grading having been completed and tho ties and rails strung along the entire route, embracing Adams avenue ave-nue between Twenty-second and Twenty-third streets and along Twon-ty-third street to the eastern part of the city. It will not .equlre many days to place the rails. Grade work on the Twenty-seventh street extension has not been begun and It Is probable that the extension will not be undertaken this season, due to the fact that property owners on Jefferson avenue, between Twenty-fifth and Twonty-soventh streets, have petitioned the city commissioners commission-ers to mako a paving district. Tho petition pe-tition has been filed with the board of commissioners nnd will be consldorod at the meeting of the commissioners tonight. Officers of the Rapid Transit company com-pany say that If the avenue is paved this season' they will abandon tho car line extension "in that direction, for they do not deslro to go to the expense ex-pense of building a road over paved districts to reach the outer section of the residence part of the city. |
