Show STANLEY INQUIRY SEEKSJI HILL WASHINGTON, Fob. 7. James J. Hill, chairman of the board of directors di-rectors of the Great Northern railroad, rail-road, was sought tonight by a deputy sorgeant of the house of representatives representa-tives with a subpoena from the Stanley Stan-ley house investigating committee, returnable re-turnable next Monday. Doputy Ser-geant.at-Arms White was dispatched with it to Jckyll Island, Ga , whero Mr. Hill was reported to be sojourning. sojourn-ing. Another deputy was sent there, but up to a late hour tonight had not reported At tho Hill home, it was said that Mr. Hill was not In Washington. From another source, word was communicated to the headquarters of the committee that Mr Hill, knowing of the subpoena, had agreed to accept ac-cept service and would appear noxt Monday The committee seeks Information from Mr Hill regarding the Lake Superior Su-perior ore Holds, tho so-called lease of thoso fields to the United States Steel corporation, which recently was ordered cancelled In 1915, and tho transportation facilities of the steel corporation. |
