Show EVIINERS ENTOMBED BYJJIB CAVE-IN AMADOR CITY, Cal., Feb. 7 Sixty-five miners were imprisoned In a cave-in at tho Bunker Hill mine near here late today. The breaking of tho cable of the cago in tho main shaft caused tho collapse of tho suppoitlng timbers of tho shaft nnd tho release of tons of earth that completely burled bur-led tho entrance. Late tonight rescue crows succeeded succeed-ed in communicating with tho men by means of the air pipes and were told that none of the imprisoned men waB injured. If the air pipes can be kept clear and no more earth gives way it is belloved rescue will be effected tomorrow to-morrow morning. The men are Imprisoned in a shaft 200 feot beneath the surface. Rescue Res-cue crews from the Fremont and Keystono mines were rushed to the Bcono and every available man In this vicinity was put to work. Scores of rolatives of the imprisoned men gathered gath-ered at the top of the earth-choked shaft begging for news of the victims and some of the women volunteered to join the rescue forcos. Rescuers late tonight heard the voices of the men cheering them onward and telling tell-ing them all were safe. No attempt will lo made to provide even liquid food to the men,'fn fear of clogging the air pipes. |
