Show SUNSPOTS MAKING BAD WEATHER. Arid nowwe are tQ have the weather foretold a month in ad-vanceby ad-vanceby astronomical observation of sunspots. This is as wonderful, wonder-ful, and .perhaps will prove quite ns useful, as the discovery 'and application of wireless telegraphy. A fellow with a skull cap, seated at the end of a large instrument directed at the sun, obtains ob-tains photographs of what he terms sunspots and from a reading of these suu disturbances he tells us what the weather will be a month or two hence. Solar group spots appeared on Mjarch 6 and immediately the astronomers, who have studied these sun, disturbances in relation to meteorological conditions on the earth, forecast heavy storms in April, designating the storm periods with great accuracy. Another group of sunspots are to be seen and storm waves are predicted all through the month of Miay. A great solar manifestation manifesta-tion is predicted, based on planetary influence, 'the disturbing effect ef-fect of which will be experienced in June. "What remarkable strides science is making! The farmer of the future, if he is "scientific," will not plan his season's work until he has received the latest bulletin on sun-spots sun-spots and has before him a meteorological map from the nearest observatory. Ships will not sail, if the sunspots are unfavorable. Every one will learn to know the importance of reading the records of the heavens. ? What a wonderful world, with only a few of its great mysteries unfolded! |
